Senior Team Bios of the 2017-2018 Season

Picture

Josh Kanoff

CAD Captain

My name is Josh. I'm a Senior and am the CAD Captain of the Topperbots. Joining 4230 was natural for me, as I had done 2 years of FLL and one year of FTC before, so it made sense to continue with FIRST and join FRC. I've been on Team 4230 since my Freshman year, making this my fourth year. I've been attending Marshall since fifth grade. My favorite memory was getting selected for playoffs during Stronghold at the Lake Superior Regional. Other than robotics, I enjoy competitive yo-yoing, playing video games with friends, and relaxing with my dog, Shadow.

Mason Kosmatka

Fabrication Captain

My name is Mason Kosmatka and I am the Machining Captain on the team.  I have been in the robotics program at Marshall since 5th Grade FLL, so this is my 8th year in FIRST.  My favorite memory from robotics was being part of an elimination alliance during the Stronghold season.  Outside of robotics, I enjoy Mountain Biking, Skiing, and Disc Golf.  Next year, I plan to study Mechanical Engineering at Montana State University!

Fisher Solberg

Mechanical Captain

My name is Fisher and I have been a part of the Marshall School FRC team for the last four years. This is my last year on this team since I am a senior and I am currently the mechanical captain. I love doing robotics and it has to be one of my favorite things at my school. I have been in a FLL team in past for about 2 years and FTC for a year,  so I have a lot of experience with FIRST programs. I love prototyping robots, strategizing and of course winning matches. As soon as I heard about the team from my friends I had to sign up right away. Outside of robotics I love to ski, play baseball, and smelting. My friends would say that I am a smart, intelligent, and wise.

Josh Hoyum

Team Coordinator

Hey, my name is Josh and I'm a senior at Marshall. I've been at Marshall for 7 years and I've been a part of robotics every year. On my first day of school at Marshall, in 6th grade, I heard about Lego robotics (FLL) and I was so excited to join. That first meeting was so boring I never wanted to go to another meeting again but I'm so glad I did. I competed on the FLL teams for 2 years, the FTC team for 1 year, and now this is my 4th year on the TopperBots. I'm the Team Coordinator, so I lead the planning and business aspects of the team while also managing communication and ensuring that everything is flowing smoothly. Outside of robotics, I teach ski lessons in the winter and work as a summer camp counselor at Chester Bowl. Being a part of the TopperBots has been a huge part of my life and even if it's sad that this is my last season, I'm still really excited for it.

Cory Ohnsted

Programming Captain

I'm Cory, and I am the programming and electrical captain. My favorite memory was that one time we got a ball into the boiler last year in competition. I am on the robotics team because I like to program robots, and I am looking to pursue a career in electrical engineering. I have been in robotics for eight years, and been a member of the TopperBots for four years. I also like to ski and water ski.
