On Saturday, January 7th 2017, our team gathered with other area teams at the University of Minnesota Duluth to watch the kickoff presentation. You can view the video reveal at the link below.

After the presentation, we grabbed our kit and headed back to Marshall School to host a collaborative meeting with four other teams: Gogebic Range Robotics (Team 6613), Babbitt (Team 5653), 6044 Circuit Breakers, Moose Lake Robotics (Team 6044), and Esko SubZero Robotics Team 5690. We broke into four groups in order to work together on specific areas of the competition: business and marketing, field and field elements, robot constraints, and scoring and strategy. The sessions lasted an hour and 45 minutes and were almost completely student led. After the sessions ended, we had a pizza party for lunch where teams were encouraged to mingle. After lunch, everyone regrouped, and two representatives from each group gave a presentation highlighting what they discussed. We believe that this was particularly helpful to the rookie team, Gogebic Range Robotics, as they were not yet familiar with the FRC competition process, such as how the competition works and the importance of establishing a budget. The other veteran teams gave a lot of input as well and together we all benifited from the experience because it is said that one does not truly understand something until they can also teach it. This made us think about what rules and aspects of the entire FIRST program are important and made us realize the significance of things we hadn't previously put a lot of thought into.

The Subzero Robotics team from Esko Team 5690 were a major part of organizing the event and we would like to thank them because we had a great time co-organizing it. Our team is very happy with how the day went and we look foward to possibly doing this again next year!
