Marshall Robotics Mission Statement: The mission of the TopperBots, Team 4230, is to empower students with skills in team-building, engineering, technology, and communication, and to provide opportunities for students to discover a love of solving problems.
Team Objectives Provide opportunities for students to learn and experiment in a safe and supportive environment dedicated to cooperation, education, compassion, and respect. Be an example of excellence in character, organization, and academic habits for students and other FIRST teams. Provide opportunities for students to learn new things in STEM.
Team History: The TopperBots began in the fall of 2011 with 14 members and competed in the 2012 Rebound Rumble game. At that time we were known as the Marmota Monax (Woodchucks) because our robot was made almost entirely of wood. Since then, the number of members has increased. For the 2017-2018 season we have 30 members. This will be our eighth year as a robotics team. We have been lucky to have employees from Cirrus Aircraft mentoring us since the fall of 2013. Mentors have been essential to the functioning of our team, including parents, friends, fans, and employees of Cirrus Aircraft, MTS Systems, NRRI, and Clearwater Composites.
